Healthy Egg Roll in a Bowl with Edamame (High Protein & Easy One-Pan Dinner)
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about creating healthier meals for my family, it’s that healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated!
Between homeschooling, running a business, and keeping up with everyday family life, I need meals that are simple, nourishing, and something everyone will actually eat.
That’s why I love this Healthy Egg Roll in a Bowl with Edamame!
It has all those delicious flavors of a traditional egg roll without the wrapper or deep frying. We’re talking seasoned ground turkey, tender cabbage, carrots, garlic, ginger, and a savory sauce that brings everything together.
But I decided to take this recipe one step further by adding edamame beans for extra protein and fiber.
The result? A delicious, satisfying dinner that comes together in one skillet in about 30 minutes!
Why You’ll Love This Healthy Egg Roll in a Bowl
There are so many reasons this recipe deserves a spot in your weekly meal rotation.

- Fiber-rich: Cabbage, carrots, and edamame provide fiber to support digestive health.
- Easy to prepare: Everything cooks in one skillet, making cleanup simple.

One of my biggest goals with Dishing Up Grace is to show families that nourishing food doesn’t have to mean spending hours in the kitchen.
Sometimes the simplest meals are the ones we enjoy most!
Why I Added Edamame
You might be wondering why I decided to add edamame to an egg roll bowl.
The answer is simple: more protein, more fiber, and more nourishment!
Edamame are young soybeans, and they’re a wonderful plant-based source of protein.
They also provide dietary fiber, folate, and other important nutrients.
I love finding small ways to increase the nutritional value of meals without making them complicated.
Adding edamame is one of those simple changes that can make a difference.
And because edamame has a mild flavor, it blends beautifully with the cabbage, ground turkey, and savory sauce.

How to Make This a Balanced Meal
One thing I talk about often when it comes to nutrition is the importance of building a balanced plate.
We don’t need to eliminate carbohydrates or drastically reduce the amount of food we’re eating to make healthier choices.
Instead, focus on including a combination of:
Protein: Supports muscle health and helps keep you satisfied.
Fiber: Supports digestion and contributes to fullness.
Healthy fats: Help provide energy and support normal body functions.
Carbohydrates: Provide an important source of energy for our brains, muscles, and daily activities.
This Egg Roll in a Bowl already provides a great foundation.
I love serving it with cooked basmati rice or brown rice, especially when we need a little extra energy after a busy day.
You could also serve it over cauliflower rice if you prefer additional vegetables.
The goal isn’t to make every meal as low-calorie as possible. It’s to build meals that provide the nourishment your body needs.
Can You Meal Prep Egg Roll in a Bowl?
Absolutely!
This is one of my favorite types of recipes to prepare ahead because the flavors are delicious the next day.
Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days.
Freezer: Freeze in individual portions for up to 2–3 months for best quality.
Reheating: Warm in a skillet or microwave until heated thoroughly to 165°F.
If you’re adding rice, I recommend storing it separately so you can easily adjust your portions.
Easy Recipe Variations
Make it with ground chicken: Substitute lean ground chicken for turkey.
Use ground beef: Lean ground beef adds a richer flavor.
Add more vegetables: Mushrooms, bell peppers, or broccoli are wonderful additions.
Make it spicy: Add red pepper flakes, chili garlic sauce, or sriracha.
Make it gluten-free: Use certified gluten-free coconut aminos and check the labels on your remaining ingredients.
Increase the fiber: Add extra edamame or serve with a fiber-rich side dish.
