Hey there!
Why does the task of snack time seem to be so daunting. The other day I was rummaging through the cabinets, trying to find some snacks to take with us on our way to an event. I remember thinking, it’s so difficult to find good snacks that meet all the criteria –
- good nutrition
- portion control
- A snack the kids love – which is a must!
Snack time for us doesn’t always look at snacks that are prepackaged. A few years ago I learned the term “GRAZING”. The concept of grazing is to always make available simple and healthy snacks, such as, carrots, celery, cucumber and other veggies that are low in sugar, but contain the carbs needed to fuel the body with energy.
I will simple lay out a tray of veggies or prepare them ahead of time and give easy access in the refrigerator. The kids can have it when they seem hungry. If kids love to eat veggies and tell you they don’t want what is available (veggies) they probably are not hungry, just resorting to food from boredom or stress. We, as adults experience the same thing. It is important to be aware of what we are eating and why we are eating it.
So I decided to dig deep and throw together some of our favorites so that YOU AND I, will always be stocked with the right kind of snacks!
COSTCO is my go to store when it comes to buying in bulk, organic and healthy options. When you decide to eat healthy, making sure you maximize your food for your money is key. I try to keep my snacks limited when it comes to prepackaged. I like to create snack bags for the times we are on the go!
