Hi, I’m Tara — so glad you stopped by
I’m a wife of nine years and mom to three amazing kiddos. Our oldest daughter, now 13, lives with Type 1 diabetes. She was diagnosed when she was just 3, and since then, our family’s life has been shaped by the reality of managing this condition.
Like many families facing Type 1, I quickly realized how deeply food would impact her quality of life. After diving into tons of research and exploring countless diets that promised to “manage diabetes,” I discovered it wasn’t about following a strict diet. It was about creating a lifelong mindset and relationship with food. And it wasn’t just her journey — it was ours. We had to support each other and make healthy choices as a family, not only for her but for all of us.
Looking back, my husband and I would have both been considered overweight. As a busy mom of three young kids, my meals often consisted of coffee, occasional Mountain Dew, and grabbing fast food out of convenience. When I did cook, it was mostly processed meals for the kids and a bag of chips for myself. I was constantly exhausted, gaining weight rapidly, struggling with hormonal imbalances, dry skin, and more.
I could’ve blamed my busy life, but then I discovered the Paleo lifestyle. This helped us create a clean eating lifestyle.
Slowly, I learned about how specific foods interact with our bodies, and it wasn’t like any diet I’d ever known — it was a way of life.
Now, here we are in 2025, our daughter’s A1C is amazing, and she feels great. We all feel great! This blog began as a way to share what I’ve learned about food, autoimmune diseases, and healthy living. I love sharing recipes and practical tips for managing diabetes in a healthy, sustainable way.
Thanks for stopping by — I’m glad you’re here.
